First Day using the Wii Fit

So today is the first day that I am going to be a blogger and blog about something. Today was the release date of the new Nintendo Wii Balance Board which is packaged with the Wii Fit program.

I thought there would be a mad rush at the stores today, and maybe there was elsewhere. I lucked out and the Wal-Mart by me is in the middle of remodling the store. The electronics department was in total disarray. The Wii Fit boxes where still on a cart in the cardboard boxes. I was the second one to purchase one today at that store.

This evening after I returned some work emails and ate, I opened the Wii Fit box.

I started up the program and completed the setup. Not to my surprise, the Wii indicated that I am overweight. I have a BMI of 29.54, weigh 211 lbs, and my Wii Fit Age is 43 which is 10 more years older than I actually am. The Wii Fit Age is apparently the approximated age of what my health would be for being a 43 year old male. The Wii Fit Age is calculated on a balance test that I took in combination with my BMI and Weight.

I practiced with all the different areas of the program, first being the Yoga. On the Yoga I trained with the Deep Breathing, Half-Moon and Warrior. I did ok on all of these.
On the Strength Training I had the hardest exhausting time doing the push-ups. The Wii called me a coach potato, which I ironically am typing on the coach right now. In the Aerobics, I did the basic run, which was pretty cool, the Wii Board is not used, the Wii Remote which I put in my pocket is able to monitor my jogging in place. Finally, I did the Balance Games which included the Soccer Heading and Ski Slalom which were both difficult for me.

So I hope I can keep this daily Blog up. I have also created a social network on ning.com for Wii Board and Wii Fitness fans at http://wiipad.ning.com/
